Ronaldo to Miss Al Nassr's Asian Champions League Opener Due to Viral Infection

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward couldn't win the Champions Title with the Saudi side Al Nassr earlier this year as they were defeated in the quarter-final penalty shootout.

Cristiano Ronaldo is confirmed to miss the opening match of Nassr's Asian Champions League as he was diagnosed with an infectious disease. The club posted a statement on social media “X”, on Sunday confirming his absence. They wrote - 

“Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo was not feeling well today and was diagnosed with a viral infection.”

The Portuguese veteran footballer was targeting to scribe another achievement in his long list by winning the title. The match was scheduled to kick off on Monday, however he wouldn't make an appearance.

"The team's doctor confirmed he needs to rest and stay at home. As a result, he will not be traveling with the team to Iraq today. We wish our captain a speedy recovery.”

The match will see a newer format as Al Nassr, Al Ahli and Neymar's Al Hilal all will participate in the Champions League Elite launches on Monday. However, the Al Nassr has to participate without their captain.
