Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven runs in the IPL match today here at Chinnaswamy Stadium. After being sent to bat first Glenn Maxwell hammered 77 runs in 44 balls assisted by Faf du Plessis 62 off 39 balls despite the early loss of stand-in-captain Virat Kohli for a duck when he was trapped before the wicket by Trent Boult. Boult finished with 2/41 while Chahal finished 1/28. Although RCB lost their momentum at the end Maxwell and Du Plessis’s 127 runs partnership helped RCB shape a decent score of 189/9. 
RR, after the early dismissal of Jos Buttler, came into the course when Jaiswal (47) and Pdikkal (52) scored 98 runs for the second wicket before both were lost in quick succession restricting RR to 182/6 in 20 overs although Dhruv Jurel (34*) fought till the last. Harsh Patel for RCB bagged 3/32
