Joe joined Woods in 2011 after the later split with Steve Williams. He was with Woods when he won the Masters in 2019.
Will Tiger stop roaring finally due to continuous fitness problem? The golf fraternity seems to be speculating such notion.
Tiger Woods, the legendary golfer is not through good times for last two years after having somehow recovered from the severe leg injuries in the car accident. He is going to miss the remainders of the Major competitions this season as he has to undergo another operation.
The rumor and speculation over his retirement from professional golf has suddenly gained a boost after his caddie, veteran Joe LaCava who was with him for last 12 years has left Tiger and teamed up with current World Number Four Patrick Cantlay.
Joe made it clear that his move does not indicate that Woods will retire. It rather confirms that his return to the course is not close. Joe LaCava will replace Matt Minister who was associated with Cantlay since 2017. Minister got separated from Cantlay last month after Zurich Classic where, with Xander Schauffele, Cantlay finished T4. Joe has worked with Cantlay in the past also.
Joe joined Woods in 2011 after the later split with Steve Williams. He was with Woods when he won the Masters in 2019. Most recently they both were at the Genesis Invitational in February and Masters last month. Before joining Cantlay he called Woods and took his blessings.
Woods underwent an ankle surgery in April and his career is totally indefinite. Following a car crash in 2021 at Southern California his schedule of play is also very limited. It is very doubtful whether he can compete in the remaining major tournaments this year.
Despite Woods starting his rehab to return to the course, PGA Tour player-turned-surgeon, Bill Mallon said, “Tiger will be either in a cast, splint, or a boot for a prolonged period.” He added that Woods can return after six weeks or three months. He may be seen on the course after August 2024. He further added stating that he will never be the Woods of 2000 or even 2015.
