Sachin Tendulkar loves to make experiment with various cuisines and when he is in the City of Joy he loves to eat Bengali favorite dish Golda Chingrir Malaikari – a prawn curry prepared with coconut milk and slightly sweet & sower in taste. Former CAB Secretary Samar Paul’s Shyambazar house was his favorite address whenever the maestro played at the Eden Gardens.

In 1998 the day-night final of the India-Kenya Triangular series was held at Eden Gardens. On the day of the match, Tendulkar insisted to have lunch at Mr. Paul’s new residence in Salt Lake.
In an interaction with PTI Mr. Samar Paul told “I told Sachin that you have a match tomorrow so come the next day. I was worried about his health and how would his body cope after having a wholesome lunch. If something goes wrong fingers will be pointed towards me.”  Sachin disagreed as he will be caching an early morning flight the next day. The maestro kept his word by taking a hearty wholesome meal including his favorite prawn dish and mutton do pyaaza. In the field, Sachin scored an unbeaten 100 to steer India to a nine-wicket victory with 15 overs to spare.
