Sahil remembers Lal Kamal Bhowmick, expresses gratitude to his Nabab ‘Kaku’

United Sports defeated Sporting Club de Goa 2-1 in a must-win match, registering full three points at Tilak Maidan on Saturday to retain their position again in the second division I-League.

Even after being the top scorer in his debut in the second division I-League, Sahil Harijon, speaking over the phone from Goa did not sound ecstatic. Rather he uttered, "I am happy that I could help my team to save from being relegated." 

United Sports defeated Sporting Club de Goa 2-1 in a must-win match, registering full three points at Tilak Maidan on Saturday to retain their position again in the second division I-League. 

Sahil Harijon, with a double strike in the 39th and 48th minute for the winners, became the top scorer with 11 goals in 14 matches. United Sports finished their campaign in the second division I-League with 15 points from 14 matches. 

Sahil who finished as the second top scorer in the CFL Premier Division with Pathachakra United remembered Lal Kamal Bhowmick and United Sports director Nabab Bhattacharya stating, “I would not have had the opportunity to play in the mainstream, in the CFL Premier Division and then in the I-League if Nabab Kaku had not scouted me, continuously inspired me and stood beside me whenever I had to face any difficulty.” 

He ccontinued, "And I how can I forget Lal Kamal sir for his guidance? The style of his training, especially the technique of improving skill, speed, and encouragement unnerved me in the CFL Premier Division as it was my first big league. ”

Sahil whose goal against Southern Samity in the CFL Premier Division from a sensational bicycle kick drew the attention of Kolkata's football fraternity, also expressed thankfulness to United Sports Benlgian coach Steve Herbots commenting, "He advised me separately before the match to become relaxed, not to be stressed. For a junior footballer like me, it was great encouragement."

Sahil who mentioned his first goal against Sporting Club de Goa and the goal against Oranje FC as the most memorable out of his 11 goals, also thanked his teammates a lot. “Our bonding was so strong that my teammates can read my movement on the field. They can smell where I am and what I want from them,” concluded the top scorer in the second division I-league who is from Bengal and whose performance guided the only team from Bengal to fight back and create an opportunity to qualify for the elite I-league again in the next season.
