Mohammedan Sporting, depleted by three consecutive defeats in the ongoing ISL, will take the help of 1983 Cricket World Cupper, Sandip Patil, initiating the revival from their present setback in the ongoing ISL.

Patil will be at the Mohammedan Sporting training on 8th November to motivate the footballers, revealing how they bounced back in the World Cup in 1983, shrugging off the disastrous three-match defeat and finally creating history by winning the trophy.

The initiative has been taken by Mohammedan Sporting’s investor group Shrachi Sports Director Rahul Todi ahead of the team’s ‘mini-derby’ against East Bengal on 9th November at the Salt Lake Stadium. Patil, presently the Director of National Cricket Academy, revealed while speaking to Parallel Sports, “This will be the first time I will interact with football players. I will share the experience from my journey with the India team in 1983 as well as the former chief national selector and NCA director. In sports, you win sometimes and you lose sometimes. But you have to become positive.”

Patil praised Rahul Todi for taking such initiative adding, “He is a positive man, not only for the cricket but for all the sports disciplines also.”

Incidentally, following an initiative from Shrachi Sports, a meeting took place on Monday. The committee members consisted of Mohammedan Sporting coach Andrey Chernyshov, manager Dipendu Biswas, East Bengal’s former India international Alvito D Cunha, and also Suley Musa.

While commenting on the discussion in the meeting Chernyshov said to Parallel Sports, “I am thankful to Rahul Todi for today's meeting. We discussed the strategy and the plans and also how to develop the standard of our game as we have several promising but inexperienced footballers."

Chernyshov also hinted that in a bid to improve the overall standard of the team’s overall performance some new footballers might be roped in during the January transfer window. All the top teams, even like Real Madrid do this.”

Chernyshov also thanked Alvito D Cunha and Suley Musa for their advice. “They have good experience on the game. So their advice to our promising footballers will be valuable.”
