The row between Sanju Samson and the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has turned into a public affair. It all began when Samson was not a part of the Kerala side in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, after which the conflict turned into a full-blown tussle.
Viswanath, Samson’s father has now alleged that the KCA has been conspiring against his son’s future and, at the same time, criticized a few members of the association.
While speaking to Sports Today, Viswanath revealed how KCA had allegedly conspired against Samson, saying that the association members were rude to his son ever since he was 11 years old.
Viswanath revealed that his son's career had almost been destroyed and Samson started falling into depression. Amidst the condition, he got rid of all the darkness after only a phone call from legendary Rahul Dravid.
Sanju’s father explained how Dravid’s timely intervention revived Sanju’s career, guiding him towards a brighter future. Dravid had seen the great potential in him while he was still playing trials at Rajasthan Royals in the 2013 IPL season, and by being his mentor, he saw that Samson never got sidelined in the team.
“I will tell you one incident about Rahul Dravid. When KCA had tried to disregard Sanju and destroy his career, Dravid ji had interfered in the matter. Wherever Sanju is at today, he owes it to Rahul Dravid. I have not forgotten anyone who has given us warmth and generosity. When action was being taken against Samson, they had given up his kit and everything else. Then, one day, we were all sad and sitting at home when Sanju got a call from Rahul sir. Sanju was overjoyed. He picked up the phone crying. The mood in the house was sombre,” Samson Viswanath said on Sports Today.
"After keeping down the phone, he told me 'It was Rahul sir’. He said ‘Sanju, I understand all that is happening with you. They are all jealous of you. Tu chinta mat kar (Don’t worry). Don’t get your morale down. I have taken care of it. You keep training and get ready for NCA’. He operated at a level higher than the KCA and took Sanju under his wings,” added Samson Viswanath.
