Bengal has qualified for the final phase, finishing at the top of the group with two triumphs and a draw in their group league matches held at Kalyani Stadium.
Sanjoy Sen has plans to bolster the Bengal team adding a few more potential footballers before the boys take on stronger teams in the final round of the Santosh Trophy.
Bengal has qualified for the final phase, finishing at the top of the group with two triumphs and a draw in their group league matches held at Kalyani Stadium.
The experienced coach however is satisfied with the boys’ exuberance. “They had to take part in three group league matches within a gap of five days which was not easy at all. Secondly, our selection of the boys and training went together. It was not that we could conduct intense practice sessions from the first day which began on 13th November."
"So, amidst the situation, I am impressed by the boys' enthusiasm. They ran for 90 minutes in each match, going on attacks, falling to help defenders," revealed Sen while speaking to Parallel Sports.
Sen is aware of his opposition teams in the final phase of the competition where Bengal will have to face teams like Services, Goa, Tamil Nadu, and Manipur in the final phase of the competition.
That might be the reason, Sen has plans to strengthen the squad with the inclusion of a few more potential footballers in the final preparation for the tournament, scheduled to start from the first week of December.
Simultaneously, Sen sounded a little anxious about Astroturf where Bengal might have to play a couple of matches in Hyderabad. “It is not that the players have not played matches on the Astroturf. You have to play on artificial pitches in the I-League. But playing a couple of matches on the artificial turf can cause injuries."
"Anyway, I am hopeful that the boys will deliver their best in the final phase also as they gave in the group league.”
