Shaji Prabhakaran hints at a conspiracy regarding his removal

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) removed secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran with immediate effect owing to a breach of trust.

After being sacked from the All India Football Federation general secretary's post three days back, Shaji Prabhakaran sent a letter to the AIFF executive committee with the hint that he has been the victim of conspiracy.

In his letter to the executive committee, Shaji has written, “As per AIFF constitution, it is the executive committee that can only dismiss or terminate the General Secretary. Thus this termination has no constitutional validity and approval of the executive committee I must say that there must be some conspiracy behind the decision which I am not able to understand. I must say that this is totally an irresponsible decision at a time when the AIFF governance matter is still under discussion and scrutiny across. I have worked with 100 percent honesty and I have not made any decision that was bad for football in India and it is the fact that I did not interfere in the decision of the judicial bodies for which I was pressurized.”

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) removed secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran with immediate effect owing to a breach of trust.

The decision was taken by AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey, vice-president NA Harris, and treasurer Kipa Ajay and comes two days before Thursday's executive committee meeting.

Chaubey told media on Wednesday that AIFF members were not happy with Prabhakaran's functioning. For now, deputy secretary-general Satyanarayan M will take over Prabhakaran's role, the AIFF release said.
