Sindhu Ties Knot While Preparing for Malaysia Open Super 1000

The couple plans to host a grand reception in Sindhu’s hometown of Hyderabad on 24th December, bringing together extended family and friends to celebrate their union.

Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu tied the knot with Venkata Datta Sai in a grand traditional ceremony on 22nd December, on Sunday, in Udaipur. The wedding was attended by close family, friends, and notable personalities, including Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.  

Sharing the couple’s first wedding photo online, Shekhawat conveyed his blessings, saying, “Pleased to have attended the wedding ceremony of our Badminton Champion Olympian PV Sindhu with Venkata Datta Sai in Udaipur last evening, I extended my best wishes for their new journey.” The picture rapidly became viral, garnering well-wishes for the couple.

Datta, the executive director of a Hyderabad-based tech firm, got engaged to Sindhu in a private ceremony in mid-December. The couple plans to host a grand reception in Sindhu’s hometown of Hyderabad on 24th December, bringing together extended family and friends to celebrate their union.

Amid the celebrations, PV Sindhu is already gearing up to return to the court. She is set to compete in the Malaysia Open Super 1000 tournament starting 7th January, marking the beginning of the season and the new Olympic cycle toward the 2028 Los Angeles Games. Sindhu's last title came at the Syed Modi International in Lucknow, where she displayed her stellar form.

The wedding marks a significant milestone for the two-time Olympic medallist as she begins a new chapter as a married woman. Fans are excited to see how she balances her personal and professional life, eagerly anticipating her performance in the upcoming badminton season.
