The footballers were also promised that if anybody among the six could impress the Spanish team's coaches and club executives then he would be offered a contract for the club's reserve team.
The six footballers were selected from more than 100 in two-day selection trials at Salt Lake to go to Spanish club CF Motril for a two-week training program. They were scheduled to reach Spain between the 15th and 30th of September.
However, the Spanish Embassy has denied their visas, expressing doubts over the footballers' intention over the tour and training at Motril. The footballers who submitted their documents on 21st August were informed on 12th September about the rejection of their visas.
The six footballers, Aniket Mondol, Maheswar Singh Sardar, Premangshu Thakur, Debjit Raut, Arijit Biswas, and Vishal Sutradhar are from remote villages in Bengal. They were also promised that if anybody among the six could impress the Spanish team's coaches and club executives then he would be offered a contract for the club's reserve team.
According to the tour organizer Treble Sports Management Spanish Embassy has expressed doubts over the footballers' intention, whether they would return to India at all. At the same time, the Spanish Embassy has also pointed out the submission of faulty documents in its explanation.
Sandipta Sen, the director of Treble Sports Management which has the tie-up with CF Motril claimed, "It is unfortunate. We did not expect the denial of the visas from the Spanish Embassy. Now, following our request, CF Motril has sent a mail to the Spanish Embassy in New Delhi explaining the exact motive and purpose of these footballers' trip. But we have not yet received any reply from the Embassy."

The footballers are naturally upset. Vishal Sutradhar who played for Motua Milabithi in the first division revealed, “I was doing extra training as a part of preparation for the training at CF Motril. I used to watch the videos of the team's training and matches. I was dreaming of a future. Now I am extremely frustrated."
Premangshu Thakur expressed the same frustration as Vishal. He is still hopeful that they will get the opportunity again. “So, I feel I should concentrate on training and work hard,” concluded Premangshu.
