Steve Smith has now surpassed the two Indian legends, Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. Former Australian captain has become the player with the most centuries in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Smith achieved this milestone by scoring his 34th Test hundred—and second of the series—against India in Melbourne on Friday.

With 10 centuries in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Smith now leads the chart, swiftly overtaking Kohli and Tendulkar, who each have nine centuries. Kohli, despite scoring a mesmerising number in the first match of the ongoing series, has struggled for runs in subsequent games.

Smith has also surpassed Kohli in another significant milestone, outpacing the Indian stalwart on the list of most runs scored in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While Sachin Tendulkar remains the all-time leading run-scorer in the tournament with 3,262 runs in 34 matches, Smith has climbed to fifth place.

Smith now has 2,130 runs in 22 BGT matches at an impressive average of 62.64, with a highest score of 192. Kohli follows in sixth place with 2,105 runs in 28 matches, averaging 46.77, with a top score of 186.

BCCI issued a statement stating, "The Indian team is wearing black armbands as a mark of respect in the memory of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away”.

India was struggling at 75/2 on the second day of the fourth Test in the post-tea session. Kohli was booed by the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) crowd as he walked out to bat in the final session of the second day. Rohit Sharma, promoted to open, managed only 3 runs before departing cheaply. Earlier, Australia dominated, managing 474.
