Southern Samity secretary, coach, and vice-president injured in a severe car accident

They were traveling to Durgapur to attend the team’s CFL Premier Division match against Pathachakra.

General Secretary of Southern Samity, Sourav Paul, the football team’s chief coach Ranjan Bhattacharya, and the club's vice-president Dr. Pranab Mukherjee got injured in a severe car accident on Wednesday morning at Gurap in Burdwan district. They were traveling to Durgapur to attend the team’s CFL Premier Division match against Pathachakra. 

The car hit the divider first after one of its front tires burst and then crashed into the roadside slope. Pranab Mukherjee who was sitting in the front seat got severely injured on the head as well as in his right hand. 

Ranjan Bhattacharya speaking to Parallel Sports from the nursing home at Gurap, they are still admitted, “The car was running at more than 80 kilometers per hour. The front tier on the left side suddenly burst out and then we crashed to the roadside slope after hitting the divider. 

Sourav Paul and I got a head injury also. But Pranab Mukherjee was sitting on the front seat. That is why his injury is severe.” 

All of them have been admitted to a local nursing home at Guraph. 

IFA secretary Anirban Dutta also went to Gurap and visited the injured officials and coach at Bengal Cancer Foundation there. He said, “They have been released by the hospital following thorough treatment.”
