Sourav struck from a brilliant 25-yard free-kick while Rajon Barman scored from a penalty shoot-out. The score was 2-2- in the first half.

Mohun Bagan who also split points in their opening match against Bhawanipore tried to bounce back after the break. They created chances also. But Rainbow’s former India international custodian Shilton Paul had a splendid show, saving his team from the defeat.

Shilton who was sent a second yellow card for wasting time was not happy about the referee's supervision and expressed wrath at the end of the match and the referee showed him a red card finally.
