East Bengal and Sreebhumi FC faced each other in the final of the Kanya Sree Cup at the Kishore Bharati Stadium today. 

East Bengal started on a very scrappy note and SFC continuously built pressure on East Bengal's defence. 

Against the run of play, East Bengal got an opportunity but failed to push into the open net. Rimpa Halder and Kabita Saren muffed off two easy chances for SFC. In the 30th and 32nd minutes however, Rimpa Halder and Mousumi Murmu converted two goals giving Sreebhumi FC a 2-0 lead. Both the teams were involved in a clash following a heavy tackle by an East Bengal defender, in which Mousumi was shown a red card.

In the second half, East Bengal made three changes. Susmita Bardhan, Sarjida Khatoon, and Chingangbam came onto the field. The East Bengal team soon organized themselves. They opened chances and ultimately Mamata Mahata converted in the 25th minute. 

East Bengal fought hard for the equalizer but the SFC defence stood strong.

IFA declared after the match that Sreebhumi FC being champion will represent Bengal in the IWL2. Sreebhumi FC coach Sujata Kar in an interview after the game said, “ I am happy with the performance.” She added that she is happy with the performances of her girls. She added further,    ” Today let's enjoy the win. From tomorrow we will think about IWL2.” She also said that although both teams were involved in the clash it was not fair part from the referee to show a red card to Mousumi only. Rimpa Halder was nominated as the woman of the match.
