Sri Lanka Wins Against England By 8 Wickets

England will face Pakistan in a 3-match series starting 7th October. Sri Lanka will have a week off before hosting New Zealand for a 2-match Test series, starting 18th September.

Sri Lanka's win ended a seven-match losing streak to England and was their first Test victory in England since 2014.

The team defeated England by 8 wickets on the fourth day of the third Test series, on Monday. Pathum Nissanka’s century guided the visitors to successfully chase the target of 219 runs, losing only 2 wickets in 40.3 overs. They needed 125 runs. 

Nissanka completed his second Test century, while Angelo Mathews contributed a solid 32 not out, utilizing his extensive experience. Their 111-run partnership secured a comfortable victory for the team. Pathum Nissanka is awarded as the player of the match for his fabulous 127 off just 124 balls. 

Kamindu Mendis of Sri Lanka wins the player of the series for his all-round contributions throughout the series. 

Whereas England can further improve their standing in the World Test Championship. Both teams have a series of Test matches scheduled in the coming months. England will face Pakistan in a 3-match series starting 7th October, with venues yet to be confirmed, potentially taking place outside Pakistan. Sri Lanka will have a week off before hosting New Zealand for a 2-match Test series in Galle, starting from 18th September.
