Milan Rathnayake broke the long-standing Indian record in the red ball cricket of the highest run as the number 9 batsman. The 28-year-old player amazed the players with his remarkable innings of 72 runs including six fours and two overhead boundaries off 135 balls. 

The last record was held by India’s Balwinder Singh Sandhu knocking 71 runs in a test match against Pakistan in 1983.
