State government announces cash awards and jobs for the medal-winners in National Games

Bengal is sending 388 participants for 26 disciplines in the Game, starting from 28th January in 10 cities of Uttarakhand.

The state sports ministry has announced cash awards and jobs at the state government for the medal-winners in the forthcoming National Games, to be held in Uttarakhand. 

This was announced by Principal Secretary of the Sports Department Rajesh Sinha at a media conference at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on Friday.

Sinha revealed, “The gold medal winners in the Games will be offered jobs of Sub-Inspectors (SI) or UD Assistants and Rs. 3 lakh in cash, the silver-medal winners will be offered jobs of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) or LD assistants and Rs. 2 Lakh in cash while the bronze medal-winners will be given jobs of constables or at any Group-D departments as well as Rs. 1 lakh in cash.” 

The newly-elected secretary of the Bengal Olympic Association (BOA) Chandan Roy Chowdhury also heaped praise on the sports minister Arup Biswas and said, “Due to an emergency engagement he was not available in our function today.”

"But he already informed us about the government's policy on medal-winning athletes. Additionally, we also have received financial assistance from the government for the National Games. We also want to organize state games across the districts after the National Games end."
