Subhash Arora, the lone savior of football in Uttarakhand plans for Sports University

He is the only one whose initiative gave birth to the first professional club in Uttarakhand, Corbett FC. He is the only one whose initiative gave birth to a modern residential academy of both football and cricket in Uttarakhand. He is the only one whose enthusiasm helped to introduce a 'golden baby football league' involving thousands of children into football league in three age group categories.

He is Subhash Arora who once was a footballer to have represented Uttar Pradesh in the senior national championship for the Santosh Trophy a couple of times and also an athlete who had medals in 100 and 400 meters in the Inter-University competitions.

Corbett FC, the club Arora built up in 2013 had created a dispute when it was allowed to take part in the elite I-League qualifiers in 2021. Questions were raised that how Corbett FC was allowed to take part in I-League second division although no state football league had taken place over the years. But that has not at all stained the efforts of Arora. While speaking to Parallel Sports Arora said, "Uttarakhand does not have any professional club. All the promising footballers of the state are migrating to other states. So I took initiative to build up our club and try to promote it. During my 22-year stint with different corporate houses, I constructed a school in Rudrapur. Then, following encouragement from my friends, I built up a team with young boys. Iswar Kumar represented junior India from that team and it inspired me to set up a residential school."

Arora's academy, Amenity Sports Academy has training facilities for both cricket and football. Kapil Dev inaugurated the cricket school and Delhi Capitals has made a tie-up with this academy.

But Subhash Arora does not want to stop promoting his club and academy only. He is planning to make a novel expansion of his sports promotional activities. He clarified, "I want to introduce a University where advanced courses on sports like sports management, coaching of several disciplines, and sports marketing will be taught."
