Sujata accepts the challenge and says boys' promise of winning today is her motivation

Thanks to Southern Samity's top boss Sourav Paul for taking such a progressive decision of handing over the men’s team to Sujata independently.

Parallel Sports first revealed the interesting news that one of the CFL Premier Division teams Southern Samity has appointed a female coach for the senior team as its assistant.

Today, on Thursday, for the first time, Sujata Kar, the former India international and one of the most experienced coaches in India's women's football fraternity, will be seen guiding Southern Samity independently in Southern Saamity's CFL tie against CFC. Thanks to Southern Samity's top boss Sourav Paul for taking such a progressive decision of handing over the men’s team to Sujata independently.

Sujata who joined Southern Samity as the assistant coach of Ranjan Bhattacharya will be guiding the boys independently in the team’s remaining two League matches.

Speaking to Parallel Sports on Thursday morning, Sujata stated, “First of all, I am extremely thankful to Sourav Pal for keeping faith in a female coach. He has broken the tradition in the Kolkata football fraternity where most of the clubs seem to believe that women coaches cannot be at par with the male coaches considering the performance."

"Secondly, I admit I have entered the competition exactly from today on where I will have to make every decision on and off the field regarding the team. It is a challenging task and I accept it. I motivated the boys after Wednesday's training and they also inspired me with the promise of winning today's match and earning three points."

Commenting on the team, Sujata stated, “The boys after their victory against Mohun Bagan are upbeat. But they should not be complacent.”
