Sujata Kar resigns from EB women’s team’s coach a few days before the team’s maiden venture in IWL

East Bengal will kick off their campaign against Gokulam FC on 26th April.

Only a couple of days before their opening match against Gokulam FC in the Indian Women’s League (IWL), Sujata Kar, the coach East Bengal women's team resigned from her post on Wednesday. East Bengal will kick off their campaign against Gokulam FC on 26th April. 

Sujata did not disclose the reasons behind her decision. She only mentioned, "I have resigned from coach's post on Wednesday. I feel coaches also deserve their due respect." She also added, "I had plans to say goodbye from East Bengal after the end of the Kolkata league. But only due to request from Ajit Bannerjee, I was continuing." 

Ajit Banerjee when asked about the issue, commented, “She expressed verbally that she wanted to quit. But I have no information whether she has officially resigned. I will have to talk to her.”

East Bengal is expected to leave for Ahmadabad within a couple of days. The team has practiced for around two weeks at Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
