Sukhjeet’s brace steers India to humble Japan 5-1

India beat China 3-0 in their opening match, courtesy of field goals from Sukhjeet Singh, Uttam Singh, and Abhishek.

India maintained their winning streak with two consecutive wins in the ongoing Asian Champions Trophy, hammering Japan 5-1 at the Moqi Hockey Training base in Hulunbuir on Monday. 

Sukhjeet and Abhishek opened the scoring in the first quarter, and then Sanjay made it 3-0 in the second quarter.  Japan obtained the equalizer in the third quarter, but their ray of hope crashed down the final quarter as Uttam made it 4-1 in the final quarter, and then Sukhjeet completed his brace in the dying seconds. 

India were in dominant form in their opener too, as they beat China 3-0, courtesy of field goals from Sukhjeet Singh, Uttam Singh, and Abhishek. On the other hand, Japan drew to South Korea in their opener. The match saw 10 goals and it ended 5-5.
