Musa reaffirmed his unwavering support for East Bengal FC, expressing his eagerness to meet the players personally.
East Bengal's former Ghanaian defender Sule Musa recently visited Kolkata, bringing with him an enduring love and admiration for his "mother team." Reflecting on the current challenges and struggles facing East Bengal, Musa shared heartfelt advice and encouragement for the players.
Despite the team’s hardships, he remains hopeful for a strong comeback on the ISL stage, believing in the club's resilience and potential for revival.
While talking about East Bengal FC, Musa confessed that, even when he doesn't watch the matches regularly, he goes through the match highlights.
He further opened up about the pressure the players mentally face due to this losing streak of the EBFC.
“Losing six matches in a row means a lot of problems. You can't imagine what is going on in the minds of the players.”
He advised the players, “I think they should take it easy; they should calm down their nerves and try to overcome their problems. It happens in life; in football it happens. Difficulties will come. At that time you have to stay together, have a cool mind, and you will surely overcome it.”
The defender further continued that the players should seek help from professionals. “They are very experienced and strong. They might take advice from elsewhere as they are professionals.”
“Since they are professionals, they should be able to overcome it. The supporters need their results. So they should gradually try to overcome it.”
The footballer recalled the ASEAN Club Championship, 2003. He stated, -
“That is a past glory. During our days we have good players, there are good leaders in the team, we can see Bhaichung is a good leader, Debashis Roy, Mahesh Gawli, Douglas da Silva. Each and every player on the field knows his duty.”
He spoke about the tactics he thinks are lacking behind East Bengal FC now.
He stated, “But this time, this type of player is not in the East Bengal team. They lack enough leaders on the front who can be on the front and command. Even if they are good players, the fitness and leadership are lacking on the front. So as professionals, if they overcome this, they will quickly get very better.”
“They have to have confidence and take the command on the front; that is what they are lacking.”
Musa reaffirmed his unwavering support for East Bengal FC, expressing his eagerness to meet the players personally. He emphasised his commitment to the club runs deep and disclosed that he is consistently in touch with the EBFC officials. The former player confirmed he will continue to stand by East Bengal, encouraging them on the way to their success on and off the field.
He concluded with a positive note, saying, “They shouldn't panic. Panic would be there, but keep panic aside, continue the good deeds, and automatically they will overcome it.”
