Sumit Sharma relishes the memory, claims his decision of bringing Dipti into cricket proved right today

Sumit Sharma now busy in producing more Dipti Sharma from his academy

It was his decision of insisting his nine-year-old sister to take her to his small cricket coaching center. Today Sumit Sharma who himself was a medium pacer and represented Uttar Pradesh quite a few times, sounded elated while talking about his sister, Dipti Sharma, the famous Indian female all-rounder whose entrance in the Indian women's IPL began with splendor as the 26-year-old cricketer was purchased at a whooping Rs 2.6 crores by UP Warriorz in the first auction for the women's IPL, held on Monday.

Sumit Sharma's cricket training center, Star Cricket Academy in Agra has expanded more. The infrastructure has developed. Around 90 young cricketers, including boys and girls from the age group of six to 19 years train every day under the guidance of Sumit and his assistant coach.

Dipti started her training here at this coaching center under Sumit at the age of nine and she used to practice with elder boys at the center. The turning point came when former national women's selector Hemlata Karla saw Dipti fielding on the fencing and made a 50-meter throw that hit the stumps directly. While batting against the boys in the training center, Dipti was so excellent that her elder brother finally advised her to change from medium pacer to a spinner.

Sumit speaking to Parallel Sports from Agra said on Tuesday, "Following my advice she became a spinner as I felt she would not be able to bat so confidently if she continued pace bowling." Sumit added, saying "Dipti came home recently before India's tour to South Africa. She stayed for around 10 days, practicing at our academy which was her cradle. I could observe one thing that Dipti was dedicated and serious during her practice as she was in her childhood. Even after having achieved fame and money Dipti's commitment to the game has not reduced at all." This is the reason Sumit believes that even after being purchased at a whopping Rs 2.6 crores in her first IPL Dipti's commitment will not reduce at all. Sumit said, "The women cricketers have been getting commendable money quite for some time. So, the money that the women cricketers will receive is not a new affair. I believe Dipti will be inspired more and take her performance to the level where she will be number one in the ICC T-20 ranking."
