Tajinderpal Singh Toor keeps his Asian Games crown by clinching gold

Toor continues the tradition of India being the most successful shot put nation in the Asian Games history.

Tajinderpal Singh Toor won India its second track and field gold as he competed in men’s shot put at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Sunday.

Toor's first and second massive throws which landed around the 20m mark, were deemed a no throw.

In his third attempt he managed to register 19.51m, however, Saudi Arabia’s Mohamed Daouda Tolo led the field with a best throw of 19.93m.

Toor and Tolo went head to head in the next attempt as they claimed a 20.06 and 20.18 m throw respectively.

Toor saved his best throw for last as he swiped gold with an impressive 20.36m throw in his sixth attempt.

The 28 year old Punjabi athlete broke his own Asian record with an enormous distance of 21.77m and won gold in the National Inter-State Championships in June.
