Tamim Iqbal Suffers Heart Attack; Rushed to Hospital

A veteran cricketer, Tamim Iqbal played 391 international matches between 2007 and 2023, amassing over 15,000 runs.

Tamim Iqbal, former Bangladesh ODI captain, suffered a heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League match. He was rushed to hospital after the incident. 

The 36-year-old was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club and had participated in the toss before experiencing chest pain. After receiving initial treatment on the field, he was transported to a hospital in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

"He suffered a heart attack. What I know so far is that his heart started to function better," said Debashis Chowdhury, a medical officer of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Tariqul Islam, a team official, urged the public to pray for Tamim’s quick recovery. 

Following the incident, the BCB cancelled its scheduled board meeting for the day, with several members heading to the hospital to visit him.
