The 53-second goal inspires Sayan to score more goals, follows Neymar to develop the speed-work

Along with the team's scheduled training session, Sayan has individual training sessions every day where he practices speed and footwork.

Former Indian international winger from Bengal Manas Bhattacharya hailed him by commenting the 20-year-old footballer reminded him of Bidesh Bose, the speedster of the 70s who had deadly speedy runs down the flanks that terrorized the opposition defenders.

Sayan Banerjee's runs down the left have a similar style as before initiating the speed work this 20-year-old winger of Kalighat MS pushes the ball a few inches.

Sayan having heard about the praise, paid gratitude saying, “I am thankful. I have also heard about Bidesh Bose that he was a lethal winger and he also had the style of pushing the ball a few inches before launching the speed work. But I try to execute this style by watching Neymar's videos. I see his training and match videos often. He is my idol. In Indian football, I find the same style in Liston Colaco and Sunil Chhetri also.”

But, Sayan who originally hails from Asansol and has already experienced playing in Delhi and Mumbai League in the last two seasons, does not stop watching Neymar’s video only.

Along with the team's scheduled training session, Sayan has individual training sessions every day where he practices speed and footwork. The Kalighat MS coach P. Thapa and Bhakat help him also by guiding how to develop his speed work. His mother Abhaya Banerjee who was an athlete also gives him advice on fitness training.

Sayan also mentioned his father's continuous support and encouragement since her started learning the basics of the game at Eastern Railway coaching camp at Asansol under the guidance of the coach of Uttam Dan and Anil Singh.

The 53-second goal against Dalhousie AC on Wednesday in the CFL Premier Division is encouraging him to score more goals. Playing for Delhi City FC Sayan scored four goals in nine matches. Sayan also struck four goals and made three assists while playing for GMSC in the Mumbai Elite league.

He said, "I want to score more goals. Initially, on Wednesday, I could not understand what I had done. Then I heard I scored the goal in 53rd second. This inspired me. I called up my parents and they asked me not to be complacent and concentrate on scoring more goals in the team’s upcoming matches.”

Sayan used to play cricket in his childhood also. MS Dhoni is his favorite cricketer and he revealed, “I learn a lot whenever I watch Dhoni, especially his calmness on the field. It teaches me to keep myself cool and increase concentration.”
