The Black Panthers in search of an opportunity to make a strategic agreement with a Spanish Club

The reserve team is being constructed mainly to create the supply-line of quality footballers for the club’s senior team.

Along with Kolkata’s two other giants a representative from Mohammedan Sporting has also been invited by the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to accompany her in the Chief Minister’s upcoming Spain trip. 

Isthiaque Ahmed, the club secretary who revealed that he has been chosen by the club's executive committee members said, "So far I heard, we will be staying a few days in Madrid. There we are expected to visit Spain's premier football clubs, the academies and its infrastructure. So far I had discussions with our board director, Dipak Singh, and a few other executive committee members, I will be trying to utilize the opportunity as I can propose any strategic alliance between any premier Spanish football club and Mohammedan Sporting. Our motive will be mainly to strengthen our grass route and youth development program. I will also request the Chief Minister regarding the matter if she initiates with our proposal on behalf of Kolkata's all three big clubs." 

Significantly, Debabrata Sarkar, the East Bengal club official, commenting on the issue said, "First of all, I am unlikely to travel to Spain. The club president or football secretary has a chance to accompany the Chief Minister. I will not make any comment regarding our plans or proposal." Mohun Bagan secretary Debasis Dutta also avoided the issue stating, “I will not make any comments now.” 

However, Mohammedan Sporting Bunkerhil Football Academy which will start its official journey at the end of next month at Gurgaon is in the process of conducting selection trials across the country. The senior director of the board, made of executives from the club and the investor, Dipak Singh commented on the issue, “Our reserve team will be made at the end of next month. We already are in fruitful talks with a premier Russian club as well as a Dubai-based premier club. Our academy’s youth development and coaches’ education program will be strengthened through the exchange program with these clubs. Additionally, if any Spanish club agreed to our proposal for strategic alliance then our academy boys will be benefitted a lot." 

Swagato Bhattacharya, also a director of the board on Bunkerhil’s behalf explained, “This academy is not only our football academy. It is called Sports Cube where along with football, we have residential schools of a few other disciplines like cricket, and taekwondo. Now, we have 37 boys so far in the age group between under-13 and under-17, and including the reserve team there are around 50 footballers already who will start training from the first week of November." 

There are three licensed coaches exclusively for the academy along with three physiotherapists. The coaching staff is guided by They will be guided by our head coach Andrey Chernyshov.” 

The reserve team is being constructed mainly to create the supply-line of quality footballers for the club’s senior team. The boys will have opportunities to take part in several knock-out tournaments as well as in the RFDL and in the CFL Premier Division next season.
