The clubs wait for the 'official' confirmation mail about the live telecast on Sony Network; agree to take part in the League after president’s promise

I-League is scheduled to start on 22nd November, on Friday evening.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Chaube, in an emergent virtual meeting with the I-League clubs' representatives on Friday morning, finally agreed to the clubs' demand for showing the I-League matches on Sony Network.

In its aftermath, the clubs are now waiting for an 'official' confirmation mail from AIFF's new commercial partner, Shrachi Sports, regarding the live telecast of the League matches on Sony Network before the League starts today, Friday evening.

President of the I-league clubs' association Ranjit Bajaj opined, “The AIFF president has agreed to our demand and promised that the matches will be shown on Sony Network. But they are expected to start televising matches this week.”

"During the meeting, we asked for a confirmation email from Shrachi Sports regarding the involvement of Sony Network and he promised also that an official mail would be sent within the next couple of hours. Then we shifted from our yesterday's stand and agreed to take part."

However, it is believed the clubs have been compelled to pay more than half of the fees for the total production cost of the League.

Bajaj revealed, "Not only that, but several clubs have also been imposed fines for failing to fulfill licensing criteria for participation in the League which costs nearly Rs 1.2 crores in total. We asked AIFF to lift the fine in our previous letters."
