The first day’s play at Kanpur called off due to torrential rain and waterlogging

Mushfiqur Rahim, is on the verge of becoming the first Bangladesh batsman to score 6,000 Test runs on the second day.

The first day’s play at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur between India and Bangladesh was called off after just 35 overs. Torrential rain and bad light played spoilsport.

Akash Deep picked up the wickets of openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam, while the captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed by R Ashwin. Bangladesh ended the Day on 107 for the loss of three wickets. Mominul Haque was the top scorer with an unbeaten 40. He stayed unbeaten overnight alongside Mushfiqur Rahim, who is on the verge of becoming the first Bangladesh batsman to score 6,000 Test runs on the second day.

Shadman departed after India's brilliant DRS call, but soon after, they wasted two more reviews with unsuccessful challenges.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl.
