The legendary Messi-Ronaldo rivalry is back again, Argentine's transfer to Saudi Arabia 'Done Deal' says report

Argentine media have reported that the offer is worth around 400 million US Dollar a year.

Football fans are in for a treat as Lionell Messi and Christiano Ronaldo are set to write another chapter in their legendary rivalry as the Argentine is set to join a club in Saudi Arabia on a free transfer after his contract with Paris Saint Germain (PSG) comes to an end.

A report by the news agency AFP stated that Messi's move to the Middle Eastern country is a done deal, and the final details of it are being confirmed. However, the club Messi will join has not been revealed, with previous reports claiming Al Hilal has made an offer to him.

The offer from the Saudi club is the only one Messi has received so far, the source added. Argentine media have reported that the offer is worth around 400 US Dollar a year. Al Hilal did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside of normal business hours.

"Messi is a done deal. He will play in Saudi Arabia next season. The contract is exceptional. It's huge. We are just finalizing some small details," a source close to the negotiations told AFP

"If the club had wanted to renew his contract, it would have been done earlier," a PSG source told AFP confirming Messi's imminent departure.

Messi joined PSG in 2021 after Barcelona failed to renew his contract due to financial fair play problems. Messi had joined the Catalan Club at the age of 12 and emerged from their famous academy, 'La Masia' to become the greatest player in football history.

Messi has failed in his attempt to help PSG win their maiden Champions League title after back-to-back Round of 16 defeats to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

However, the club won Ligue-1 title last season and is on course to defend the crown this years. Ronaldo joined Saudi-based outfit Al Nassr in January for a deal worth 400 million Euros. Ronaldo has a two and half-year contract with the Asian Giants that makes him the highest paid athlete in the world, according to Forbes.

Messi and Ronaldo have won a combined 12 Ballon d'Or titles between them.
