The matches against Sreenidi, Gokulam, and Lajong were turning points; Tanmoy

The team will return to Kolkata on Sunday evening.

Tanmoy Ghosh played a crucial role in helping Mohammedan Sporting to make the hat-trick by winning three consecutive CFL Premier League titles last season. The midfielder also took part in 13 I-league matches this season.

When asked about the key matches that became turning points for the team's historic I-League title and promotion to the ISL, Tanmoy speaking from Shillong explained, "I feel snatching one point from Sreenidi in Hyderabad, winning the thriller against Gokulam FC at EMS Stadium through David's 97th-minute strike and Saturday's crucial victory against Shillong Lajong turned the tide in our favour in the I-league.”

The team that will return to Kolkata on Sunday evening however did not have any celebration at the hotel after the title-securing victory against Shillong Lajong.

Mohammedan Sporting's statistics in the I-league have been highly inspiring as the Black-and-White brigade won 15 matches, split points in seven, and lost only one against Real Kashmir.

Tanmoy, when asked about the key factor behind the consistency opined, “The hat-trick in the CFL Premier Division last season was one of the key factors I believe. After winning the Kolkata Premier League all of us had a belief that we have the capacity to win the I-league this season also. That was excellently nurtured by the officials and coaching staff. We were motivated throughout the League."

He continued, "The officials, especially our manager, Dipendu Biswas, and the coach Chernyshov pumped in the motivation constantly and trusted the footballers’ ability. This helped the footballers deliver their best consistently.”

Tanmoy at the same time mentioned the foreign footballers especially Eddie Hernandez and Alexis Gomez's consistent performance. "Along with splendid show by our custodian Padam Chhetri, Remsanga, Bikash, Eddie, and Alexis also were consistent. They changed the complexion of the game in many matches."
