Churchill Brothers were desperate for a win in this fixture, given their situation in the league table, while Shillong Lajong eager to continue their supremacy came all out at the Churchill Defence.

The match started with exciting end-to-end action. Both teams were eager to get the first goal but even though Churchill Brothers created a few chances, it was Shillong Lajong who scored the first goal of the game right at the stroke of half time with Laiwang getting at the end of a beautifully constructed move.

Shillong Lajong looked dominant from the first minute but a lot of chances were not taken keeping the game very open. The second half started with a blow for Churchill Brothers as Shillong Lajong earned a penalty with back-to-back fouls in the same move inside the penalty box. Renan Paulinho made no mistake and converted the chance to make it 2:0.
