In the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games Dipika will compete in the mixed doubles event. It is expected to be her au revoir

Koneru Humpy( Chess)

One of India's finest chess players Koneru Humpy became the youngest recipient of the title of Grandmaster at the age of 15 years, one month and 27 days in 2002. She is also the second female to exceed the 2600 Elo rating mark.

Humpy took a maternity break of two years after her beloved daughter Ahana’s birth in 2017. She returned in triumph as she became the women's World Rapid Champion in 2019 and was the runner up in the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2019-21 edition.

The Grandmaster will be competing both in the singles and team events in this year’s Asian Games.

Harika Dronavalli ( chess)

Harika played a high -pressure Chess Olympiad in her final month of pregnancy last year and became an inspiration to many. She joined the preparatory camps online to practice for the event.

Koneru Humpy, R Vaishali, Tania Sachdev and Bhakti Kulkarni and Harika won the women's team bronze in Chess Olympiad the first time ever for India in the women's section. She had her daughter Hanvika a few days after

Harika is looking forward to another Asian Games medal as she already has the bronze in the individual section at the 2010 Guangzhou Games in the bag.

Manpreet Kaur (shot put)

This national record holder had represented India at the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010. She then tied the knot and took a break of three years following which she had her daughter, Jasnoor.

The only Indian woman to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics in shot put, Kaur hails from Sahauli Village in Patiala. Even though she was handed a four year doping ban in July 2017 she made a strong comeback in 2022. Kaur launched the iron ball to a miraculous distance of 18.06m and became the first Indian woman to cross 18 m in shot put. She seems to be saying to us to look forward to her future performances.
