Triman waits for a call from AIFF to fulfill his dream

The Indian-origin Belgium player is in talks with some big clubs of India as well.

Triman Ranvir created an uproar a year ago by giving up on his Belgium nationality to obtain an Indian passport. His dream is to play for the national team one day as an Indian and not as a player of origin. However, his trip to India was cut short and was forced travelled back to Belgium within months to resume his career.

The 19-year-old failed to get citizenship of the country as it will require several years for foreign-born to obtain Indian nationality. However, Triman still keeps his dream of playing for India someday. His desire has not changed even after leaving the country in disappointment.

"I am working closely with Delhi FC owner Ranjit Bajaj," Triman spoke about the man who gave him a place in Minerva Academy during his stay in India. "I am still interested in playing for the India and I had only come back to Belgium for game time."

"I play for Koninklijk Berchem sport at the moment which is located in the city of Antwerp in Belgium. It is a team that played in the first division of Belgian football but now is a strong team in the second national division of Belgian football. I play for the reserve side and also made my debut for the first team against Beerschot Wilrijk, a Belgium first division pro league team." Triman idolizes Belgium legend Eden Hazard because he also played for the same childhood club as him for AFC Tubize.

In December 2023, AIFF drew up a 24-player list of OCI/PIO holders for their plans to integrate them into national teams. While the names were not revealed, Triman said that neither he is aware of the development nor has been contacted by the federation regarding it. However, he will apply for the process should AIFF manage to approve OCI/PIO holders to play for the national team.
