Two top flight foreigners join Dempo Sports Club

Brosseau arrives at Dempo as a free agent, adding depth and expertise to their midfield.

Dempo Sports Club has strengthened its squad midway through the I-League by signing two experienced foreign players. Nigerian striker Lukman Adefemi Abegunrin and Ivorian midfielder Didier Brossou have joined Goa’s Golden Eagles and are set to feature for the rest of the season. Their debut for Dempo could happen as soon as today, in the match against Real Kashmir.

Lukman Abegunrin, 30, is no stranger to the I-League, having played for Real Kashmir FC in 2021. Since then, he has had spells with South Africa’s Free State Stars and Bangladesh’s AFC Uttara before returning to Nigeria to play for Rivers United. His recent move to Dempo marks his return to Indian football.

Didier Brossou, 35, known for his time in Ivory Coast’s top-flight club ASEC Mimosas, brings a wealth of international experience. Over his career, he has played for Hapoel Ramat Gan, Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona, and Maccabi Petah Tikva in Israel before joining Bangladeshi clubs such as Chittagong Abahani, Sheikh Russel, and Bashundhara Kings. Brosseau arrives at Dempo as a free agent, adding depth and expertise to their midfield.
