Real Madrid and Liverpool met in the final at the Stade de France on May 28. Before the start of the match, there was chaos when the visitors entered the stadium. Many fans could not enter the field in time. It was like a riot there. Police in Paris were seen firing tear gas, including women and children.

The final started 36 minutes late. UEFA and the French authorities initially charged Liverpool fans for that incident. But last February, an independent panel blamed UEFA mismanagement for the incident after a lengthy investigation.

Uefa said all ticket holders in the stadium's A, B, C, X, Y, and Z category gates, where "the most difficult situation took place", will be refunded there were 19,618 tickets allocated for the final for Liverpool fans. Tickets for the final ranged from Dollar 74 to Dollar 733.
