Uganda create history, beat test playing nation Zimbabwe in T-20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers

This was the first time Uganda played against a full member in T-20Is and has won the game by five wickets.

Uganda beat heavyweight Zimbabwe by five-wickets in the T-20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier as the 23rd ranked team on the ICC Men’s T-20I Team rankings, creating history to force the Chevrons almost out of contention.

With this Uganda moves up to the third place on the points table, which is led by Namibia and Kenya. Zimbabwe on the other hand, is sitting in fourth place with two points and need other results to go its way if it has any hopes of qualifying for the T-20 World Cup next year.

Zimbabwe batted first and scored 136 losing seven wickets in 20 scheduled overs. In reply, reached the target, scoring 138 for the loss of five wickets in 19.1 overs. Uganda’s star was Dinesh Nakrani, who finished with 3/14 although Riazat Ali Shah (42) won the man-of-the-match award.
