Under-17 champion Syndrela sets focus on playing in the Spanish league

Syndrela has set another mark in her journey, getting into the women's Bengal squad as the youngest paddler for the forthcoming Khelo India Youth Games.

Syndrela Das already drew the attention of India's table tennis fraternity a couple of months ago when the 14-year-old female paddler clinched titles in under-15, 17, and under-19 age groups in the national ranking tournament in Vadodara.

The student of former national champions Soumyadeep Roy and Paulami Ghatak once again repeated the show maintaining consistency in the women's youth national championship at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata by winning the singles title in the under-17 age group and runners-up in the doubles in under-19 age group.

As a reward for the titles, Syndrela has set another mark in her journey, getting into the women's Bengal squad as the youngest paddler for the forthcoming Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Chennai in March.

Still, Syndrela revealed she has kept the celebration on hold even after winning the under-17 national title. She stated, "I want to win the title in the forthcoming under-15 national championship. It will be my last year in the under-15 age group. So, I want to celebrate only after winning the singles' title in the under-15 national championships."

Syndrela had played in Austria’s premier league. But now she is set to play in the Spanish premier league this year. A premier table tennis club in Madrid offered her to sign and Syndrela divulged, "Yes, I will play there. Playing against better paddlers and a modern style of training improves the standard of the game."
