United SC wants 'training compensation' to be implemented, and AIFF is also likely to follow

when asked about the issue, an AIFF executive revealed on condition of anonymity that the Federation has also decided to introduce the policy and circulate the rule among all the I-League and ISL clubs soon.

United Sports Club director Nabab Bhattacharya has urged the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to implement a 'training compensation' rule for the professional clubs. Otherwise, according to the United Sports director, it would be difficult for the country's professional clubs to sustain financially which have been spotting and grooming potential youth footballers.

United Sports is the country's one of the clubs that has established as one of the supply lines in Bengal and Indian football over the years.

Training compensation is a policy where a professional club, registering a footballer even if he is free during a particular time, has to pay the club that groomed and made him competent for the mainstream of Indian football.

Bhattacharya opined, "We have made several potential footballers competent, and later on they got the opportunity to don big teams' shirts. Many of them do not have an agreement with us. So, after leaving United Sports Academy the footballer might be a 'free' footballer, and any professional team can select him and sign.”

He continued, “We are not getting any percentage of his signing fees as he was a free footballer. But following the training compensation rule, the recruiting club has to pay a percentage of the particular footballer's signing fees. The academies across the country that groom footballers like us will be financially sustainable. Otherwise how will we survive? Who will bear the cost of nurturing the footballer?”

Interestingly, when asked about the issue, an AIFF executive revealed on condition of anonymity that the Federation has also decided to introduce the policy and circulate the rule among all the I-League and ISL clubs very soon.

However, Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG) has shown ‘admirable’ professionalism in roping in Sayan Das from United Sports. United Sports had an agreement already with Sayan and according to the agreement any club would have had to pay a transfer fee for registering the footballer. But, it is learnt that MBSG having shown proper professional attitude registered the United Sports footballer against a deserving amount of money. Bhattacharya, appreciating MBSG’s professionalism commented, “Yes they gave due respect while registering the footballer. They also gave the same respect in the case of Raj Basfore.”
