South Africa jump to top of the standings with 12 points
Quinton de Kock smashed his fourth century of the World Cup and Rassie van der Dussen his second as South Africa crushed New Zealand by 190 runs on Wednesday at the MCA stadium in Pune, Maharashtra. They are currently at the top of the standings with 12 points.
The Proteas made a commanding 357/4 which was built on De Kock's 116 balls 114 and Van der Dussen's 118 balls 133. Alongside them, David Miller scored 53 off 30, Heinrich Klaasen made 15 off seven and Aiden Markram made an unbeaten six off the only ball he faced.
Earlier, Pacer Jansen picked three wickets while spinner Keshav Maharaj bagged a four wickets and bundled New Zealand to 167 in 35.3 overs. Gerald Coetzee and Kagiso Rabada also took 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
New Zealand had won the toss and opted to bowl first in Pune. Glenn Phillips led the lone resistance for the Kiwis with 60 off 50. However, he was given a boost by Will Young who scored 33 off 37 balls.
