Vinesh Phogat was hospitalized on Wednesday, 7th August in Paris, minutes after she was disqualified from the women's 50kg final at the Paris Olympics. 

According to sources, the Olympian fainted due to dehydration.

Currently, Vinesh is in the polyclinic of the Olympic Village, where she is stable and resting. 

Unfortunately, there is no recourse available for the Indian contingent to appeal the decision. 

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with IOA president P.T. Usha to get the latest information on the issue and explore any options available to India following Vinesh's setback. 

But UWW rules state, “If an athlete does not attend or fails the weigh-in, he/she will be eliminated from the competition and ranked last without rank.”

Vinesh is the first athlete to have been disqualified from her final for overweight. 

She told PTI in April after securing the 50kg quota for India, “I have brought myself down to 50kg after so long, so I will try and maintain this as much as I can. It is not easy for me not to put on weight as my muscle mass is very high.”
