The hearing is scheduled to be held on Friday at 10 am. But this could drag into multiple hearings over the next few days and a verdict may take time to come.
CAS has accepted Vinesh Phogat's plea and has also informed the Indian wrestler to appoint a lawyer for the hearing, which will take place tomorrow, 9th August at 10 am.
The Government of India is looking to get Harish Savle on the case. Vinesh will likely be represented by 4 pro-bono lawyers, available by the Paris Bar. Subsequently, India is trying to get its lawyer involved in the case. The names being considered are Harish Salve and sports law expert Vidhushpat Singhania,
There is a possibility that this could drag into multiple hearings over the next few days and a verdict may take time to come.
Meanwhile, Mahavir Phogat, star wrestler Vinesh Phogat's uncle, and mentor said on Thursday that there is no conspiracy behind his niece's disqualification from the Paris Olympics. He added that the Olympics body has its own rules and the disqualification happened according to their rule book.
When asked about Vinesh's announcement of retirement Mahavir stated, “When she will return, we all, me, Bajrang Punia, and others will motivate her for the upcoming 2028 Olympics."
Mahavir while speaking to Parallel Sports on the issue claimed, “I am the only coach in India who made three wrestlers international after only three months’ training. Vinesh, Ritu, and Priayanka-all won gold medals in their respective categories in the Cadet Asian Championship in 2009. All three of them were not even promising in the national level competitions before I took up special training for them. So I am a coach who can make more Vinesh Phogats in the future."
