Vinesh's silver medal plea postponed again, new deadline 16th August

Mahavir Phogat, uncle and coach of Vinesh revealed that they will be welcoming Vinesh like a gold medalist.

The wait continues for Vinesh Phogat and the rest of the country as the deadline for the announcement of the Court of Arbitration for Sport's (CAS) ad hoc division's verdict has been further postponed to 16th August. It was earlier announced that the verdict would be made public on 14th August.

"By application of Article 18 of the CAS Arbitration Rules for the Olympic Games, the President of the CAS Ad Hoc Division extends the time-limit for the Panel to give a decision until 16 August 2024 at 18h00 (Paris time),." CAS's ad-hoc division has said. 

Significantly, Mahavir Phogat, uncle and coach of Vinesh revealed that they will be welcoming Vinesh like a gold medalist. The wrestler is scheduled to return to her village in Haryana on the 14th of August. Mahavir also said, "We will try our best to convince her to withdraw her decision to retire from wrestling."
