For the first time after 2014, Virat Kohli is out of the top 20 batsmen in the ICC’s Test ranking! Kohli was out of the world's top 20 batsmen for the last time in 2014. It was that England tour where he averaged 13.4 in 5 matches with the highest score of 39.
According to the ICC's latest Test ranking, Virat is placed at 22nd. The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, is also going through a disastrous phase as his ranking has gone down to 26th from 24th. Rishabh Pant is the only ray of hope among Indian batsmen after the disastrous defeat in the three-test series against New Zealand. Pant’s ranking has gone up to 6th from his previous standing at 11th.
However, among the Indian bowlers, R. Ashwin’s ranking has gone down to 5th spot from fourth in Tests. However, his partner, Ravindra Jadeja’s 10-wicket haul in the Mumbai Test has seen him leapfrog Nathan Lyon and Prabath Jayasuriya. The other two Indian bowlers in the top twenty, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, remain where they were before, at 3 and 17.
