Virat Kohli’s off-stump shattered; heartbroken fans leave stadium

Delhi finally were able to take seven runs lead in the first innings riding on Ayush Badoni’s 99, assisted by Yash Dhull (32) and Sanat Sangwan (30).

The roaring Arun Jaitley Stadium turned into an utmost silence on Friday morning, watching their hero returning to the pavilion.

Virat Kohli’s homecoming for Delhi at the Ranji Trophy didn't go as expected, as the Indian batter failed to make a mark in the first innings. The 36-year-old batsman was dismissed for just 6 off 15 deliveries, with Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwan sending his stump cartwheeling early in the innings.

Kohli struck a brilliant straight drive for a boundary in the delivery before his dismissal and attempted a similar shot again. However, Sangwan pulled his length and managed to deceive Kohli, castling the Indian batting great to shatter the fans' hopes, who came in huge numbers to watch the batter play.
