Virat Kohli’s struggles continue even at the nets; Bangladesh coach reveals Shakib is fit to play

In Chennai, he was dismissed by off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 17, which was the 18th time since 2021 that Kohli got out to spinners.

Virat Kohli's disappointing performance in Tests in recent times, especially since the series against Sri Lanka seems to have worried India's think-tank.

The more worrying point is that Kohli’s struggle with the bat continued even at the nets before India’s second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, scheduled to commence on 27th September.

Indian Express observed how Virat Kohli fumbled against Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling at the nets on Wednesday morning. Bumrah bowled around 15 deliveries to Virat Kohli at the nets under the scorching Sun and ‘got him out’ four times!

Virat then moved to the parallel net, where the spin trio R. Ashwin, Rabindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel were bowling.

He was seen stumbling against the Indian spin trio and at the nets of Green Park, especially against the two left-arm spinners. Even Kohli looked agitated while failing to deliver inside-out against Jadeja.

However, the eye-catching moment was Axar cleaning up the master batsman through the gate.

In recent times, Kohli's struggles against spinners have become well-known. In Chennai, he was dismissed by off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 17, which was the 18th time since 2021 that Kohli got out to spinners.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe on Wednesday downplayed concerns around Shakib’s fitness after the finger injury sustained in Chennai. Hathurusinghe said, “I have no report from our physiotherapist that Shakib is not fit to play. He is eligible for selection.”
