But before their important match against Bhawanipore on Thursday, Wari AC has been plagued by the absence of their five footballers who have so far been in the first eleven.
Century-old club Wari AC, playing in the ongoing CFL Premier League for the first time in recent years, roped in Micky Fernandes last month. The 40-year-old Goan coach worked with Vasco SC last season. Wari has gathered four points in three matches so far.
In a bid to ensure their berth in the 'Super-Six' stage in the ongoing CFL Premier Division, Wari AC has recruited a few quality outstation footballers from Punjab, Kerala, and two youngsters from Mizoram along with promising local footballers. Following a suggestion from the coach, the club is also reportedly trying to rope in another quality young striker from Mizoram before their crucial tie against East Bengal.
But before their important match against Bhawanipore on Thursday, Wari AC has been plagued by the absence of their five footballers who have so far been in the first eleven.
Mickey, commenting on the issue, "We will miss five key footballers tomorrow against Bhawanipore FC due as all are suffering from illness. Bhawanipore is truly a tough side comprising most of the experienced footballers who played for either Mohun Bagan or East Bengal. On the other hand, our side comprises mostly energetic but inexperienced footballers. Still, I am optimistic that they will fight."
Following advice from the coach, Wari AC is also in search of an experienced midfielder. He added, "We have quality youngsters. But we need at least one or two experienced footballers who can control the game, especially against a strong team. If we get an experienced footballer in the midfield it will help a lot."
