Wenger’s advice: AIFF to introduce special ‘scouting’ program

According to Pasha, Harjinder Singh and Bembem Debi who have already been working as scouts will be asked to continue working as the ‘head of scouts’.

Following advice from Arsene Wenger the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is going to introduce a specialized 'scouting' program soon. 'Six super scouts' have already been appointed based on an examination which took place after a seminar around a month ago.

The scouts will be engaged in educating the scouts across the country. The AIFF secretary Satyanarayan M when asked about the issue, revealed, “Following advice from Arsene Wenger we have set focus on a more scientific scouting program throughout the country. We need to know how many potential footballers we are missing. Arsene said scouting has a major role in building up a strong team.”

The Federation’s Technical Director Sabir Pasha however revealed that out of 26 applicants for the post of ‘Super Scout’ six B-licensed ‘Super Scouts’ (one for the women) have been appointed under the Fifa’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS).

They will be mainly engaged in scouting potential youth footballers from the upcoming youth leagues as well as from the academies. This apart from these 'Super Six' scouts will also be engaged in educating the scouts in the states.

According to Pasha, Harjinder Singh and Bembem Debi who have already been working as scouts will be asked to continue working as the ‘head of scouts’.

Incidentally, the Fifa-appointed chief coach Sergi Amezcua and the High-Performance specialist Ged Roddy are likely to attend the upcoming youth league to scout potential under-17 boys for the FiFa-AIFF academy at Bhubaneswar, inaugurated officially by Arsene Wenger.

Looking forward to acquiring the qualification for the under-17 World Cup in 2026, thirty potential footballers for the national team will be built up.
