World Cup final likely on same slow pitch like India-Pakistan match at Ahmadabad

Pitches have taken drawn attention of the cricket fraternity since India played their semi-final in the Wankhede Stadium.

The Indian team will continue the trend to play on slow pitches as it is learnt that the final of the World Cup at Narendra Modi Stadium is going to be played on the same pitch as the India-Pakistan game last month.

The pitch might behave sluggishly where the ball after pitching will take time to reach the bat.

Indian team captain Rohit Sharma and the coach Rahul Dravid inspected the pitch in detail during the optional training session at the stadium. Black soil pitches generally tend to be slow.

During the India-Pakistan game, the visitors were bundled out for 191 and India had registered a convincing seven-wicket win. It is learnt that the final pitch is expected to be on similar lines where spinners might hold an edge.

Pitches have taken drawn attention of the cricket fraternity since India played their semi-final in the Wankhede Stadium.

The BCCI is being criticized of switching pitches and this paper had earlier reported how the team management asked curators to shave grass off from the pitch and make a slow track at Wankhede Stadium.

The Indian team has tried to use home conditions, and this controversy aside they have had a tremendous run this World Cup.
